Important is Mother or Mothers day?

Islam has no need of things that are innovated by others, be it Mother’s Day of anything else. Apart from her role as a wife, the Muslim woman has a very important role as mother. The status and value attached to parents in the Muslim world is very high. A woman becomes complete when she becomes a mother. Enjoying her power of creativity and grade of superiority over man, she experiences those precious feelings and senses, which nature gives only to woman. There is no doubt that as a mother, she is superior to man and is the nucleus of her family.
Noble Qur’an says:

"And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, and goodness to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) "Ugh" nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word. And make yourself submissively gentle to them with compassion, and say: O my Lord! Have compassion on them, as they brought me up (when I was) little." Noble Qur’an (17:23-24).

It is a injustice with the sacrifices of mother , to dedicate only one day as a Mothers Day.In fact everyday is the mothers day in Islam.

A man once consulted the Prophet Muhammad about taking part in a military campaign. The Prophet asked the man if his mother was still living. When told that she was alive, the Prophet said: "(Then) stay with her, for Paradise is at her feet." (Al-Tirmidhi)

On another occasion, the Prophet said: "God has forbidden for you to be undutiful to your mothers." (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

A man once asked the Prophet to whom he should show the most kindness. The Prophet replied: "Your mother, next your mother, next your mother, and then your father." (Sunan of Abu-Dawood

smallm8The date of Mother’s Day, and the way in which it is celebrated, differs from one country to another. In Norway it is celebrated on the second Sunday in February. In Argentina it is celebrated on the second Sunday in October. In Lebanon it is on the first day of spring. In South Africa it is celebrated on the first Sunday in May.

In France it is celebrated more as a family festival, on the last Sunday in May, when family members get together for dinner, then they give a cake to the mother.

Sweden also has a holiday for Family Day on the last Sunday of May. A few days before that the Swedish Red Cross sells small plastic roses for people to give to their mothers who will spend the holiday taking care of their children. In Japan this day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May, as in North America, where exhibitions are held of pictures drawn by children aged 6-14; these exhibitions are called “My Mother” This exhibition is moved every four years and has appeared in a number of countries. Few other Historical details you can find here.

The Commander of the Faithful hazrat ali (peace be upon him) has said: “Goodness towards (one’s) parents is the greatest obligatory act.”Mizanul Hikmah, Volume 10, Page 709

To understand sacrifices of mother Listen this :

So Dear friends start celebrating Mother’s day every day and perform these small amaal everyday.

Some A’amaal for the benefit of diseased parents.

After having reached the height of his career a man felt a duty to repay his mother back for all that she had done for him.

He asked, “Mother, what can I give you? What can I do for you? I sincerely wish to repay you for the sacrifices you made for me and for all the love you have showered upon me.”

Mother looked surprised and said, “Why do you think about it? It was my duty so I did it, you don”t have to repay me. Even if you want to, there is no way a man can ever repay his mother.”

Despite her continuous refusal to ask for anything, the son persisted. To put an end to the discussion, she said, “All right. If you must, then tonight you sleep on my bed, with me, just as you used to when you were a baby.”
He said, “That”s a strange thing to ask for, but if it pleases you, I will.”

As soon as he fell asleep, the mother got up and brought a bucket of water. She poured a mug full of water on his side. Feeling disturbed by the wetness under him, in his sleep he moved away to the other side of the bed. As he settled down, his mother poured another mug of water on the other side. In his slumber he tried to find space towards the foot post of the bed.

Sometime later he woke up feeling that this part of the bed too was damp. He got up and saw his mother, with the mug in her hand. He asked angrily, “What are you doing mother? Why don”t you let me sleep? How do you expect me to sleep on a wet bed?”

Mother said, “I slept with you, when you wet the bed in the night. I would change your nappy and move you to the dry part of the bed, while I slept on the wet side. You wanted to repay me. Can you sleep here even for one night with me on a damp bed? If you can, I”ll take it that you have repaid me.”

How eloquently the story above demonstrates that we can”t even begin to repay the care, love and attention a mother showers her child throughout the course of life.
May Allah (SWT) enable us to be of service and comfort to both our parents when we can and may He grant us PATIENCE to serve them during their old age.

THE TIMINGS FOR SPECIAL INVOCATIONS

THE INVOCATIONS AFTER THE MANDATORY PRAYERS OF THE MORNINGS AND EVENINGS

Imam Moosa Kazim (a.s) narrates that when you have finished the evening ( Maghrib) prayer, then without talking to anyone, say the following a hundred times:

Bismillahir Rahmaan ir Raheem la haula wa la quwwata illa billahil ali il azeem

Do the same after the morning (Fajr) prayers. Allah will ward away a hundred evils from you because there is Ism e Azam in these words.

Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s) has said, “ when a person recites the following ten times before the sunrise and before the sunset every day, all his sins committed on that day will be pardoned:

La ilaha il Allaho wahdahu la shareeka lahu lahul mulko wa lahul hamdo yohi wa yumeeto wa yohi wa huwa hayyun la yamooto be yadahil khaire wa huwa ala kulle shaiyin qadeer

Imam Mohammed Baqir (a.s.) has said, “ One who recites the Salawat on Mohammed and his progeny ten times at dawn and repeats the following words

Subhan Allah ( 35 times)

La ilaha il Allah (35 times)

Alhamdu lillah (35 times)

And repeats the same at dusk, then he will be counted as those who are busy supplicating to Allah throughout the day. And one who says allaho Akbar a hundred times at dawn and at dusk, he will get Reward equal to releasing a hundred slaves.

It is narrated that the Prophet of Allah (a.s.) used to revite three hundred and sixty times every dawn and dusk the following

Alhamdu lillahi rabbilaalimeen kateeran ala kulle haalin

He (a.s.) said that there are 360 veins in the human body. Of them 180 are mobile and the other 180 are static. If, even one mobile vein becomes static, or any of the static veins becomes mobile, then the person doesn’t get the sleep and remains restless the whole night. He should therefore regularly recite the invocation mentioned above.

It is narrated from Imam Mohammed Baqir (a.s.) that one should recite the following invocation in the mornings:

Asbahto billahi moomenan ala deene Muhammadin wa sunnatehi wa deenil ausiae wa sunnatehim aamanto besirrehim wa alniyatehim wa shahedehim wa ghayebehim wa aaoozu billahi mimma asta aaza minhu rasoolillahi sal allaho alaihi wa aalehi wa alal ausiyae salawaat ullahi alaihim wa arghub ilallahi feeha raghebu ilaihi wa la haula wa la quwwata illa billahi.

It is also narrated from the Prophet of Allah (a.s.) that one who recites the following supplication before the sunrise, an angel will take it on its wings and go to the Firmament . When it arrives there, the other angels ask him what it was carrying. It says that it was carrying the supplication of a momin. The angels then pray to Allah for the acceptance of the momin’s supplication. Similarly all the angels and the people of the Firmament will pray on his behalf. This supplication is treasured with the record of the good deeds of the Momin.

Allaho akbar Allaho akbar kabeeran wa subhan allahi bukratan wa aseela walhamdulillahi rabbil aalameena kateeran la shareeka lahu wa salallaho ala Mohammedin wa aalehi.

Hazrat Ibrahim (a.s.) used to recite the following supplication thrice every morning. Allah used to keep him safe from all calamities the whole day:

Asbahto wa rabbi mahmoodan asbahto la shareeka billahi shaiyan wa la adau maallahi ilahan wa la attakhaza min doonehi waliyyan

It is narrated from Imam Mohammed Baqir (a.s) that before talking to anyone in the morning, one should recite the Sura e Qadr and blow on the Aqeeq stone (cornelian) and then recite the following supplication:

Aamanto billahi wahdahu la shareeka lahu wa kafarto biljibte wat taghoote wa aamanto besirre aale Mohammedin wa alaniyatehim wa zaherehim wa batinehim wa awwalehim wa aakhirehim

Then Allah will save him from all calamities that day.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ameer al Momineen (a.s.) that anyone who recites the following verse three times at the time of Maghrib prayer, till the next morning he will not suffer any loss and he will be safe from natural calamities:

Fa subhan allahi heena tumsoona wa heena tusbehoona wa lahul hamdo fis samawaate wal arze wa ashi an wa heena tuzheroona – 30.18

Hazrat Ameer al Momineen has said that anyone who recited three times the following words every morning and evening, then Allah will certainly enter him into the Heaven:

Razaito billahi rabban wa bilislame deenan wa Muhammadin sal allaho alaihi wa aalehi nabian wa bil qurane balaghan wa be aliyin imaman wa bil ausiayo min wuldehe aayimatan

Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s.) has said that one who recites the following words 25 times every day, then Allah will write one virtue in the names of all the momins from Adam (a.s.) till the Day of Reckoning and to that individual he will Reward equal to that of all the momins:

Allahumma aghfiru lilmomineena wal mominaate wal muslimeena wal muslimaate

Halqam asked Imam Jafare Sadiq (a.s.) , ‘ Ya Ibne Rasool Allah (a.s)! Teach me a supplication that will be beneficial for me now and also in the Hereafter.” The Imam said, “ After the Fajr prayer, till the dawn, recite the following:

Subhan allahil azeeme wa behamdehe astaghfirallaha wa asalahu min fazlehi

SUPPLICATIONS AFTER EVERY MANDATORY PRAYER

In the supplications to be recited after eyery mandatory prayer, the best is the Tasbeeh e Fatima (a.s.). It requires reciting:

Allaho Akbar (34 times)

Alhamdu lillah (33 times)

Subhan Allah (33 times)

Imam Mohammed Baqir (a.s.) has said that after every mandatory prayer, there is no better invocation than the Tasbeeh e Fatima (a.s.). If there was any other, more effective, way of Praising Allah, the Prophet (a.s.) would most certainly have instructed his daughter about that.

Imam Jafar e Sadiq has said that reciting the Tasbeeh e Fatima (a.s.) after every compulsory prayer is better than performing a thousand genuflections. One should say once after reciting the Tasbeeh the following words:

La ilaha il Allah

Imam Mohammed Baqir (a.s.) has said, One who sits quietly after each mandatory prayer and recites thrice the following words, Allah will pardon all his sins:

Astaghfarallah allazi la ilaha illa huwal hayyal qayyumo zuljalal e wal ikraame wa aatube ilaihi

Imam Jafar e Sadiq has said that if a person recites thirty times the following words after each compulsory prayer, all his sins will be pardoned:

Subhan Allah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ameer al Momineen (a.s.) if one desires to depart from this world as innocent as he was at his birth, then he should recite the Sura e Iqlaas twelve times after every compulsory prayer and then raise his hands towards the sky and recite the following invocation:

Allahumma inni asaloka beismekal maknoone wal makhzoonil tahiril tuhharil mubarake wa asaloka beismekal azeeme wa sultanekal qadeeme ya waheb al ataya wa ya mutleqal usaara wa ya fakkakar riqaabe min an naare asaloka anto salle ala Mohammedin wa alle Mohammadin wa an tuteqa raqbati minan naare wa an tuqrijani min ad duniya aamenan wa an tudqilunil jannata salemun wa an tajal duaee awwalahu falahan wa awsatahu najahan wa aakhirahu salahan innaka anta allamul ghayoobo

Imam Reza (a.s.) was asked about the method of offering salutations to the Prophet (a.s.) and his Ahl al Bayt (a.s.) after the mandatory prayers. The Imam (a.s) asked one to say the following:

As salaam alaika ya rasool allah wa rahmat ullahi wa barakatahu ya Mohammed bin Abdallah as salaamu alaika ya khairatillahe as salaamualaika ya Habeeb Allah as salaamualaika ya sifwat allahi as salaamualaika ya ameenallahi ashadu annaka Rasool allahi wa ashaduannaka Muhammad ibne Abdallahi wa ashaduannaka qad nashata leummeka wa jahadta fi sabeele rabbaka wa abdutahu hatta ataakal yaqeena fajazaakallaha ya rasool Allahi afzala ma jazaee nabiyan ummehi alla humma salle ala Muhammadin wa aale muhammedin afzale ma sallaita ala Ibraheema innaka hameedun majeed

It is narrated from Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s.) that after every mandatory prayer he continued sitting at the place of the prayer till he cursed four accursed men andfour accursed women of the ummat.:

INVOCATIONS AFTER ZUHR PRAYER

It is narrated from Hazrat Ali (a.s.) that the Prophet of Allah (a.s.) used to recite the following supplication after the Zuhr prayer.

THE SUPPLICATION AFTER ASR PRAYER

Imam jafar e Sadiq has said that a person who says Asthgfar seventy time after the Asr prayer, Allah will pardon his seven hundred sins. If he doesn’t have so many sins in his account, Allah will pardon the sins of his parents or other relatives.

The Prophet of Allah (a.s.) has said that the person who recites Astaghfar once after the Asr prayer, Allah will forgive all his sins. The Astaghfar is as follows

THE INVOCATIONS AFTER THE LATE NIGHT PRAYERS

Imam Mohammed Taqi (a.s.) has said that one who recites the verse Inna anzalna after the mandatory maghribain prayers, he will remain in the care of Allah till the morning.

Sheik Toosi has said that after the late night prayer ( namaz e Shab) one should recite ten times Surat al Fateha, Sura Qul huwalla, Sura Qul auzu berabbil naas, Sura Qul auzu Berabbil falaq. Also recite ten times Tasbeehaat e Arba and the Salawat.

SAJDA E SHUKR- THE PROSTRATION OF THANKSGIVING

Prostration of thanksgiving after every mandatory prayer was the practice ( Sunnat e Muwakkida) of the Prophet ( a.s.).

Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s.) has hinted at it’s being mandatory and said that when a person makes a prostration of thanksgiving, Allah addresses the angels and tells them that a sincere creature is doing the Sajda e Shukr. He asks the angels to suggest what Reward must be given to the person. The angels would suggest that Allah keep His Blessings with the person for his act. Allah will again ask them what else should be the Reward for the person? The angels say,’ O Sustainer! Give him a place in the Heaven!’ Allah will again ask the angels,’ What else?’ The angels reply, ‘ O Allah! Give a place in the Heaven for the person’s parents and children, as well!’ Allah will again ask the angels to suggest some more Reward for the person. The angels would reply,’ We have made suggestions to the best of our knowledge! We have nothing else to suggest! You know everything!’ Then Allah would say,’ The person has thanked Me in all sincerity and humility, therefore, in return, I too shall thank him!’

Imam Reza (a.s.) has said that while making the prostration of thanksgiving, a person should say Shukran lillah atleast three times. Also he should say a hundred times Afwan or Shukran. Either in prostration he should first say a hundred times Afwan or Al-afu Al-afu. Then he should keep the right cheek at the place of prostration and s make any supplication as, for example, Ya Allaho, Ya Rabbaho, Ya Syedaho. Similarly he should keep his left cheek at the place of prostration and say the same words. In the end he should place his forehead at the same spot and repeat Shukran Shukran ya Shukran Allah a hundred times.

Remember that this prostration is not a part of the mandatory prayer. This is only a sunnat. While doing this, the person should place his chest and the tummy on the ground, spread his arms and keep his kness flat on the ground. He should pray for the welfare of himself and all the momineen with tearful eyes. Allah likes his creatures imploring Him for help in this manner.

Our Imams (a.s.) used to make long prostrations of thanksgiving. Specially Imam Moosa Kazim (a.s.) used to do the sajda after completing his fajr prayer which stretched well into the sun up. When he was asked about his Sajda e Shukr, the Imam (a.s.) said, one should recite the following supplication while doing the Sajda:

Allahumma inni ashaduka wa ashadu malaekateka wa ambiyaeka wa rusuleka wa jamieh qalkeka annaka allaho rabbi wal islamo deeni wa Muhammadan nabiee wa Aliyan wal Hassane wal Hussaine wa Ali ibnal Hussaine wa Mohammed ibne aliyyin wa Jafar ibne Mohammedin wa Moosa ibne Jafar wa Ali ibne Moosa wa Mohammed ibne Aliyyin wa Ali ibne Mohammedin wal Hassan ibne Aliyyin wal Hujjata ibnal Hassane ayyimmati behim atwallah wa min aadayehim atabbara

Then the person should recite Shukran a hundred times and also say the Salawat.

Afterwards he should say thrice:

Allahumma inni unshudaka dam al mazloom

Then repeat the following thrice as well:

Allahumma inni unsheduka bayuaayeka ala nafseka leaadayeka letuhlaknahum beaidiana wa aidial momineena allahumma inni ansheduka beyuaieka ala nafseka leauliyaeka letuzfera behim beaduweka wa aduwwehim antusalle ala Mohammedin wa alal mustahfezeena min aale Mohammedin

Then he should recite the following thrice:

Allahumma inni asalukal yusra baadal usre

Then he should keep his right cheek at the place of prostration and repeat thrice the following:

Ya kahufi heena tuainil mazahiba wa tuzeeqa alalarze bema rahubato wa ya berabbia khalqi rahmata bee wa kunto min qalqi ghaniyan salle ala Mohammedin wa alal mustahfezeena min aale Mohammedin

Then the left cheek is kept at the place of prostration and the following words recited thrice:

Ya muzillo kullo jabbarin ya muizzo kulle zaleelin qad izzateka balagh bee majuhoori.

In one narration it is said that the Prophet of Allah (a.s.) used to recite the following while doing the prostration of thanksgiving:

Aauzubeka min naarin harreha la yutfa wa aaoozubeka min naarin jadeeduha la yubla wa aauzubeka min naarin utusanuha la yuruwayee wa aaoozubeka min naarin masukubaha la yuksa

It is narrated that Hazrat Ameer al Momineen (a.s.) used to recite the following supplication while doing the Sajda e Shukr:

Irhamo zulli baina yadaika wa tazurrai ilaika wa wahshati minan naase wa unsa beka ya kareem

THE SUPPLICATIONS BEFORE GOING TO BED

Before sleeping it is advisable to do the ablution. . One should sleep on the right arm. And keep the face towards the Kaaba. It is better to recite the Tasbeeh e Fatima before going to bed that he doesn’t get disturbing dreams.

Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s.) has said that before going to bed one should recite the sura Inna anzalna eleven times and also sura Iqlas eleven times. One who does this, will be pardoned his sins during the next fifty years. If someone sees disturbing dreams, he should recite the maoozatain, that is, Qul aaoozo berabbil falaq & Qul aaoozo Berabbil Naas before going to bed.

Imam Mohammed Baqir (a.s.) says that when one turns in the bed, he should say:

Alhamdu lillah wallaho akbar

Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s.) has said that when a person wishes to wake up at a particular time in the night, he should recite the following before going to bed:

Allahumma la tunsenee zikraka wa la tauamminnee makruka wa la tajalni min al ghafeleena wa anabbehuni leuhibbul saa aate ilaika adooka fiha fatastajeebo li wa asaluka fatuhtaini wa astaghferuka fataghfirli innahu la egferul zunooba illa anta ya arham ar rahemeen

Difference in terrorism and Jihad?

“Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors” [Al-Qur'an 2:190]

This the Basic rule of islamic war.

While Islam in general is misunderstood in the western world, perhaps no other Islamic term evokes such strong reactions as the word Jihad.
The word Jihad is mistranslated as “Holy War”. The Arabic equivalent of “Holy War” is harb-u-muqadasah. This term is not found in any verse of the Qur’an. There is nothing in the Islamic sources that permit a Muslim to fight against non-Muslims solely on the basis that they are not Muslim.

The word Jihad comes from the root word jahada, which means to struggle. At the individual level, jihad primarily refers to the inner struggle of being a person of virtue and submission to God in all aspects of life.

During a war, the Prophet saw the corpse of a woman lying on the ground and observed: "She was not fighting. How then she came to be killed?" Thus non-combatants are guaranteed security of life even if their state is at war with an Islamic state.

The ravages of war are not an excuse for Muslims to engage in any form of cruelty or violation of human rights. As the Qur’an says:

“O ye who believe! stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.” [Al-Qur'an 5:8]

It is forbidden under Islamic law, to ill-treat prisoners of war or to deny them the essentials of life, including medical treatment.

Respect for religious freedom

Physical Jihad cannot be waged with the objective of compelling people to embrace Islam. The Glorious Qur’an says:
“Let there be no compulsion in religion”
[Al-Qur'an 2:256]
“If it had been thy Lord’s will, they would all have believed,- all who are on earth! wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!”
[Al-Qur'an 10:99]

Accept peace

If the enemy offers peace, it should be accepted even at the risk of possible deception. The Glorious Qur’an says:
“But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things” [Al-Qur'an 8:61]

Difference in  terrorism and  Jihad?

Terrorism is usually defined as ideologically motivated indiscriminate violence that targets civilians, with the intention of inspiring terror in order to achieve political ends.

Although this definition ignores the reality of state terrorism, it is clear that terrorism has no place in the noble concept of Jihad. Even Jihad that involves physical conflict is the very antithesis of terrorism, as is clear from the following differences:

1. Jihad can be launched only by an established authority as a policy in order to deter aggression. Terrorism, on the other hand, is committed by individuals or groups that have no legitimacy to speak for the majority. When terrorism is committed by states, it usually depends on misleading the masses.

2. Jihad is limited to combatants while terrorism involves indiscriminate killing of civilians.

3. Jihad, when the need arises, is declared openly, while terrorism is committed secretly.

4. Jihad is bound by strict rules of engagement while terrorism is not bound by any rules.

Muslims stand united in their condemnation of terrorist attacks and any attempt to link their faith to heinous acts that question the humanity of the perpetrators. The vast majority of Muslims worldwide find in Islam, a faith that preaches devotion and good character, not one that calls for hatred towards fellow humans.

The Glorious Qur’an says:"Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error" [Al-Qur'an 2:256]

Traditionally Muslims have treated other religions with respect, even when they were in a position to use force.
Muslims ruled Spain for about 800 years. During these 800 years, until Muslims were finally forced out by the crusaders, non-Muslims flourished in Spain.
Muslims have ruled Arabia for 1400 years, except for brief periods of British and French rule. Yet there are today 14 million Arabs who are Coptic Christians whose families have been Christians going back several generations.
The Muslims ruled India for about a thousand years. They had the power to forcibly convert each and every non-Muslim of India to Islam. Today more than 80% of the population of India is non-Muslim. All these non-Muslim Indians are bearing witness to the fact that Islam was not spread by the sword.

So finally Islam is a religion of Peace, Brotherhood and humanity. In current age there is no physical Jihad order with anybody exist in Islamic world. Those who fight in the name of their leader with the fatwa of Jihad are self made Muslims not the followers of holy Prophet(s.a.w).

Injustice stands for the seizure of rights,

Justice means putting a thing or a matter in its right place. With the same token, injustice is to put a thing in an inappropriate place. Conventionally, injustice stands for the seizure of rights, and the words and deeds of hostility against others, such as revilement, backbiting, confiscation of property, crimes of beating or murder, and the like forms of wrongdoings.

Injustice, however, is one of the bad characteristics that are deep-rooted in most of the mentalities. All over history, humankind suffered various kinds of tragedies that made life seem depressing. It therefore is right to say that injustice is the comprehensive of sins, source of evils, and incentive of corruption. Polytheism is grave injustice because instead of believing on one and only one God, it promotes the worshipping of several gods. God says:

The unjust will certainly have no happiness. (6:21)

Allah does not guide the unjust. (6:144)

Allah does not love the unjust. (3:57)

The unjust will face a painful punishment. (14:22)

We destroyed certain generations who lived before you because of their injustice. (10:13)

Do not think that Allah is unaware of what the unjust people do. (14:42)

(On the Day of Judgment) to redeem oneself of one’s injustice, one would gladly spend the wealth of the whole earth if it were possible. On seeing the torment one will try to hide his regret. They will all be judged fairly and no wrong will be done to them. (10:54)

Imam Ali (a) said: By Allah, even if I am given all the domains of the seven (stars) with all that exists under the skies in order that I may disobey Allah to the extent of snatching one grain of barley from an ant, I would not do it. For me, your world is lighter than the leaf in the mouth of a locust that is chewing it. What has Ali to do with bounties that will pass away and pleasures that will not last?

Abu Bassir narrated the following:

Two parties of litigation filed their case before Imam as-Sadiq (a). After he had listened to both of them, the Imam spoke: It is quite true that he who seizes something by wrong means is not seizing goodness. Certainly, the oppressed party seizes from the religion of the wronging party more than that which the wronging party seizes from the oppressed party’s property. He who does evil to people should not show loathing towards the evil that is done to him. As a matter of fact, man will harvest nothing but that which he sowed. No one will harvest sweetness from the bitter, and no one will harvest bitterness from the sweet.

These words of the Imam (a) made the two parties settle their litigation before they left him. Al-Wafi; part 3 page 162 (as quoted from al-Kafi).

Imam as-Sadiq (a) said: He who seizes his brother’s property wrongfully will consume a flame of fire on the Day of Resurrection. Al-Wafi; part 3 page 162 (as quoted from al-Kafi).

As for him who wrongs others, Allah will cause him, his descendants, or the descendants of his descendants to be wronged by absolute persons. When the Imam was asked how it is acceptable for God to cause somebody to wrong the descendants of the wrongdoer, he referred to God’s saying:

Those who are concerned about the welfare of their own children after their death should have fear of Allah and guide them properly. (4:9)

To punish sons for their fathers’ crimes is restricted only to those who accept and welcome their fathers’ wrongdoings so that they would inherit such usurped properties. To punish such sons is a reproach that discourages the wrongdoers from aggressions out of their care for their dear sons. It is also a good tiding for the oppressed individuals that their oppressors will be punished eventually.

The Prophet (s) said: For anyone who begins his day without having the intent to oppress anybody, Allah will forgive his sins that he committed against his Lord-.

Forms of Injustice

1. Self-Wronging

Self-wronging is the negligence of the obedience to God. Therein, disappointment and humility will be the result:

(I swear) By the soul and that (Power) which designed it and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness) (91:10).

2. Injustice towards the Family

Injustice towards the family occurs when the paterfamilias neglects to apply the true Islamic education to them, overlooks to guide them to virtue, uses excessive severity and violence, and prevents them from having the necessities of good livelihood. Such matters cause material and ethical shortcomings to the family members.

3. Injustice towards the Relatives

This form of injustice occurs when the relatives are deserted, disappointed in misfortunes, and deprived of feelings of kindness. Such matters bring about enmity and disregard of relations.

4. Injustice towards the Society

This form of injustice occurs when the individuals of a society are treated proudly, their rights are neglected, dignities are disrespected, and interests are disregarded. Such behaviors cause social corruption. The most hideous forms of social injustice is wronging the weak individuals who lack the ability to defend themselves and have no weapon other than complaining and supplicating to the All-merciful Just Lord.

Imam al-Baqir (a) said: When my father was dying, he hanged me to his chest and said: son, I command you with the matter that my father said to me that his father had commanded him with when he was dying. I command you to beware of wronging him who has no supporter against you except Allah. Al-Wafi; part 3 page 162 (as quoted from al-Kafi).

5. Injustice of the Rulers

This sort of injustice is the gravest.

Imam as-Sadiq (a) narrated: Allah ordered, by revelation, one of the prophets to go to the absolute ruler of that kingdom and say to him: I have not appointed you for shedding their blood and seizing their property. I only appointed you for responding to the cries of the oppressed people. Even if they are atheists, I will not neglect the oppressions that the wronged people encounter.

Imam as-Sadiq (a) related on the authority of his forefathers that the Prophet (s) said: On the Day of Resurrection, Hell will speak to three categories of people: the rulers, the reciters, and the wealthy. It will say to the ruler: ‘Allah gave you authority, but you did not rule justly.’ Hell, then, will swallow him in the same way as birds swallow grains of sesame.

To the reciter, Hell will say: ‘You adorned yourself before people but fought against Allah by committing the acts of disobedience to him.’ Hell, then, will swallow him.

To the wealthy, Hell will say: ‘Allah showered you with abundant worldly wealth, but when He asked you for a loan, you refused out of your stinginess.’ Hell, then, will swallow him. Bihar ul-Anwar; 16/209 (as quoted from as-Saduq’s al-Khissal).

The previous threat is not restricted only to the wrongdoers; it also includes those who join the oppressors, those who accede to their deeds, and those who contribute in their evildoings. All these are partners in the sin and the punishment:

Imam as-Sadiq (a) said: The wrongdoer, his supporter, and the one who accepts his deed are partners (of the same crime).

To stand by the oppressed people and protect them from inequity is one of the best acts of obedience to God that leave nice traces and good marks on the spiritual and material existence of humankind.

Imam al-Kadhim (a) said to Ibn Yaqttin (Ibn Yaqttin was holding a high position in the center of caliphate.) : Guarantee for me one thing and I will guarantee for you three things: guarantee for me that you will settle the need of anyone of our adherents that you meet in the center of caliphate and I guarantee for you that you shall not encounter the strike of swords, you shall not be under the ceiling of any cell, and poverty shall never visit your house. Al-Bahaai’s al-Kashkul; 124.

Abu al-Hasan (a) said: There are certain disciples of Allah who accompany the rulers for guarding Allah’s disciples. (According to another report,) Those are the ones whom Allah will save from Hell. Al-Wafi; part 10 page 28 (as quoted from al-Faqih).

Imam as-Sadiq (a) said: The expiation of holding governmental authorities is to settle the needs of our friends. Al-Wafi; part 10 page 28 (as quoted from al-Faqih).

A man asked Imam as-Sadiq (a) to write a message to an-Nejashi, the treasury official of al-Ahwaz and Persia, to cancel the debts that he owed his office, since an-Nejashi was Shiite. The Imam did, and the man carried that message to an-Nejashi and handed it over to him when they were alone. In that message, the Imam (a) wrote: In the Name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful. Please your brother and Allah will please you.

As he read the message, an-Nejashi kissed and put it between his eyes and asked the man about his need. I owe your office ten thousand dirhams, said the man. An-Nejashi asked his secretary to cancel the debt and record ten thousand dirhams that the man would have the next year. He then took out ten thousand dirhams and gave to the man and asked, Have I pleased you? Yes, you have, answered the man. An-Nejashi took another bag of ten thousand dirhams and gave to the man and asked, Have I pleased you? Yes, you certainly have, said the man. An-Nejashi went on giving that man everything, including a riding animal, a bondmaiden, and a servant, and asking whether he had pleased him until it was the turn of the rug on which he was sitting. He also asked the man to provide all his needs so that he would settle them.

The man came to Imam as-Sadiq (a) and told him of the whole story. The Imam was highly delighted. Son of God’s Messenger, asked the man, Are you pleased by that which an-Nejashi had done to me? The Imam answered: Yes, indeed, by Allah. His deed has also pleased Allah and His Messenger.Al-Wafi; part 10 page 28 (as quoted from al-Kafi).

Bad Consequences of Injustice

To deem ugly and deny injustice is a natural quality of humankind. The freedom lovers refute injustice and exert all efforts for fighting against it. Commonness of injustice is the most dangerous epidemic on societies, since it causes social collapse. To overlook acts of injustice encourages the oppressors to go beyond the limits in aggression and criminality. It also enjoins the oppressed people to revenge themselves upon others. Such being the case, disorder will be common. All this will certainly produce dissolution of nations as well as loss of security and luxury.

Treatment of Injustice

It is very difficult to treat from injustice and pull up its roots. At any rate, it may be possible to ease the sharpness of injustice by:

1. Keeping in mind the virtues of justice and nice influence, such as spread of peace, amicability, and comfort.

2. Learning lessons from the disadvantages and mental and material damages of injustice,

3. Strengthening the religious restraint by means of educating the conscience and the feelings of the values and purposeful concepts of faith, and

4. Studying the examples of the despots who suffered the evilest consequences because of their tyranny and injustice.

It is narrated that a Kurdish celebrity, once, was invited to a banquet of a prince. As he noticed two grilled partridges on the banquet, he smiled. The prince asked him for a reason. He narrated: When I was in the vigor of my youth, I waylaid a merchant. When I was about to kill him, he begged me, but, uselessly. When he despaired, he turned to two partridges that were on a mountain and asked them to be the witnesses on that crime. Now, I remembered that situation when my eyes fell on these two grille d partridges.

As the man finished, the prince said: Yes, the two partridges testified on your crime. He then ordered to behead that man. Al-Kashkul: 21. It is also in Hayat ul-Hayawan; THE PARTRIDGE

PICT1347 The Jaunpur sultanate was ruled by the Sharqi dynasty. The Khwajah-i-Jahan Malik Sarwar, the first ruler of the dynasty was a Wazir (minister) under Sultan Nasiruddin Muhammad Shah III Tughluq (1390 – 1394 CE). In 1394 CE, he established himself as an independent ruler of Jaunpur and extended his authority over Awadh and a large part of Ganga-Yamuna doab. The dynasty founded by him was named so because of his title Malik-us-Sharq (the ruler of the east). The most acclaimed ruler of this dynasty was Ibrahim Shah. The last ruler Hussain Shah was overthrown by Bahlul Lodi, and Jaunpur sultanate was permanently annexed to Delhi sultanate by Sikandar Lodi.

Sultan Shamsuddin Ibrahim Shah Sharqi, the most noted ruler of this dynasty was a patron of Islamic learning and established a number of colleges for this purpose. A large number of scholarly works on Islamic theology and law was produced during his reign. Sultan Shamsuddin Ibrahim Shah Sharqi constructed a number of monuments in a new regional style of architecture known as the Sharqi.
